A university is a centre of higher learning and Goa University ensures that the students going for higher education courses in Goa get access to all the up to date methodologies of receiving education.

Even though Goa University is the only university in Goa, it is not at all a matter of disadvantage for the students there. They can choose a subject of their preference from the list of 46 professional and non professional courses offered by the university. The courses are either offered directly by the university or by the colleges affiliated to it. It offers graduate, post graduate and research programmes to the aspirants.

With a four star accreditation from the NAAC, the Goa University started its journey of imparting education to the students from the year 1985. The establishment of this university opened new options in higher education for the students, who only had pharmacy and medicine to choose from earlier. The university has taken distance education one step further by launching the DEITI (Distance Education Information and Training Infrastructure) Studio and linking it with ‘Edusat’ to telecast educational programmes.

One of the many mentionable achievements of this university is the introduction of need based programmes for economic well being of the people. Apart from training students, the university also empowers teachers to be all set to take up new challenges in their profession.

Students interested in taking admission must collect the admission handbook which is ready for distribution by the first week of June every year. Admission forms can be taken from the respective departments of the University. The University of Goa also introduced the Study India Programme, a unique feature of this university, for the foreign students.
